Heparin Contraindications
- Should not be used unless medically necessary
- Active bleeding
- Recent trauma
- Known hypersensitivity to drug/beef/pork
Heparin Adverse
- Confusion
- Edema
- Fever
- Bruising
- Bleeding complications
Heparin Dosage
- Adult: Loading - 60units/kg IV(max 4,000units)
- Maintenance - 12units/kg/hr(max 1,000units/hr)
Peds: 50units/kg followed by infusion
