Describe a redox reaction, the changes in oxidation number and the reagents present.
A redox reaction is a reaction in which both oxidation and reduction take place. When a chemical is reduced its oxidation number decreases and when a chemical is oxidised its oxidation number increases. An oxidising reagent accepts electrons and is reduced. A reducing agent is the opposite.
