Psych: How is an Image Perceived?

  1. Step 1
    Light enters the eye.
  2. Step 2
    From there the image is inverted by the lens and [hopefully] hits the retina.
  3. Step 3
    First makes its way through the retina’s out layer of cells, and then...
  4. Step 4
    The light energy then hits the rods and cones which, in turn, produce chemical changes that generate neural signals.
  5. Step 5
    This information is then passed onto the bipolar cells, which then activate the ganglion cells.
  6. Step 6
    The axons of these ganglion cells then make up what are the strands of the optic nerve.
  7. Step 7
    The image then crosses over through the corpus callosum, and is then reverted in the visual cortex.
