10mg in 2ml ampoule
Indications of Metoclopramide
Aeromedical evacuation
Prophylactically to prevent vomiting in Pt's with eye, head and spinal injuries
Significant nausea and vomiting
Use with Morphine in Pt's with previous nausea/vomiting with narcotics
Contra-Indications of Metoclopramide
KSAR
Patients less than 12yo
Hx of dystonic reactions
Not to be given within 6 hours of Phenothiazine
Precautions for Metoclopramide
GI haemorrhage
Bowel obstruction or perforation
Side effects of Metoclopramide
Drowsiness, lethargy, dry mouth
Dystonic reaction
Occulogyric crisis
Dosage of Metoclopramide (16 or older only)
10-20mg IM
10-20mg IV slowly over 1 minute
