  1. Presentation of GTN
    400mcg metered dose aerosol
  2. Indications for GTN
    Pain syndromes associated with suspected AMI or myocardial ischaemia

    Cardiogenic pulmonary oedema

    Autonomic Dysreflexia with systolic BP equal to or greater than 160mmHg
  3. Contra-Indications of GTN
    • Heart rate less than 50bpm OR heart rate greater than 150bpm
    • Systolic BP less than 100mgHg
    • Current CVA
    • Head trauma
    • Erectile dysfunction meds in the last 24 hours
    • KSAR
  4. Precautions of GTN
    • Suspected acute inferior MI
    • Cerebral vascular disease
    • Risk of hypotension/syncope
    • Intoxication - effects enhanced by alcohol
    • Erectile dysfunction meds in past 4 days
  5. Side effects of GTN
    • Dizziness/hypotension/syncope
    • Facial flushing
    • Tachycardia
    • Vascular headache
  6. Dosage of GTN - Adults only
    • MI/myocardial ischaemia
    • 400mcg spray every 5 minutes while symptoms continue providing systolic BP greater than 100mmHg

    • Autonomic Dysreflexia with systolic BP equal or greater than 16mmHg
    • 400mcg spray every 5 minutes until BP normalises

    • Cardiogenic pulmonary oedema
    • 400mcg spray every 5 minutes while symptoms continue providing systolic BP greater than 100mmHg
