Origin: Lateral halg of the inguinal ligament, middle lip of the iliac crest, and the thoracolumbar fascia

Insertion: Pubis, inferior border of the lower three or four ribs (9, 10-12), the linea alba; the aponeurosis fuses with the external oblique to form the rectus sheath

Innervation: Lower five thoracic nerves, first lumbar nerve and the iliohypogastric and ilioinguinal nerves

Origin: Lateral third of the inguinal ligament, the inner lip of the iliac crest, the inner surface of the cartilages of the lower six ribs, thoracolumbar fascia, and interdigitating with the diaphragm

Insertion: Ends in an aponeurosis. The upper three-fourths form the back of the rectus sheath and insert on the linea alba; the lower forth forms the front of the rectus sheath and attaches to the pubis.

Innervation: Lower six thoracic nerves, first lumbar nerve, and the iliohypogastric and ilioinguinal nerves

Insertion: Intertubercular groove of humerus

Innervation: Thoracodorsal (middle and long scapular nerve) nerce, a branch of the posterior cord

Origin: The supraspinal ligament; and the spinous processes of the upper two or three lumbar vertebrae (L1-L3) and the lower two thoracic vertebrae (T11, T12)

Insertion: Lower borders of ribs 9-12

Innervation: Intercostal nerves 9-12

Origin: Aponeurosis fibers from the iliolumbar ligament and the adjacent portion of the iliac crest

Insertion: Lower border of the last rib for about half its length and the transverse processes of L1-L4

Innervation: Spinal nerves T12 and L1-L2
