  1. Superior
    Towards head
  2. Inferior
    Away from head
  3. Anterior
    Toward front side (ventral in humans)
  4. Posterior
    Toward backside (dorsal in humans)
  5. Medial
    Towards mid line of body
  6. Lateral
    Away from mid line of body
  7. Intermediate
    Between medial and lateral (armpits)
  8. Distal
    Farther from origin/ connection of body part
  9. Proximal
  10. Closer to origin/ connection of body part
  11. Superficial
    Toward/ at body surface
  12. Deep
    Away from body surface
  13. Medial
    Body plane cutting vertically in half down midline
  14. Frontal
    Body plane cutting into anterior and posterior halves
  15. Transverse
    Body plane separating superior and anterior halves
