Sympathomimetic

• 1. Beta 1: Increases inotropic and chronotropic effect
• 2. Beta 2: Causes bronchodilation
• 3. Increases myocardial oxygen demand

Last resort in management of symptomatic bradycardia (Atropine and pacing should precede this therapy)

• 1. AMI's
• 2. Cardiogenic Shock
• 3. Do not use with epinephrine

• 1. ventricular irritability
• 2. deactivated by alkaline solutions

• 1. tachyarrhythmias, PVC's and angina
• 2. Tremor, palpitations, headaches
• 3. anxiety, sweating, hypotension
• 4. Can increase size of infart due to incrased myocardium oxygen demand

1mg in 500 ml D5W (concentration of 2mcg / ml) infused at 2 - 10 mcg / min and titrated to effect or until PVC's occur

IV infusion only

Ampule: 1mg / 1 ml or 1mg / 5 ml
