Isoproterenol (Isuprel) Indications
Last resort in management of symptomatic bradycardia (Atropine and pacing should precede this therapy)
Isoproterenol (Isuprel) Contraindications
1. AMI's
2. Cardiogenic Shock
3. Do not use with epinephrine
Isoproterenol (Isuprel) Precautions
1. ventricular irritability
2. deactivated by alkaline solutions
Isoproterenol (Isuprel) Side Effects
1. tachyarrhythmias, PVC's and angina
2. Tremor, palpitations, headaches
3. anxiety, sweating, hypotension
4. Can increase size of infart due to incrased myocardium oxygen demand
Isoproterenol (Isuprel) Dosage
1mg in 500 ml D5W (concentration of 2mcg / ml) infused at 2 - 10 mcg / min and titrated to effect or until PVC's occur

IV infusion only

Ampule: 1mg / 1 ml or 1mg / 5 ml
