  1. Style
    A writer's distinctive manner of expression.
  2. Irony
    Suggests some sort of discrepancy between appearance and reality.
  3. Dialogue
    The direct speech of characters in a story, punctuated by quotation marks.
  4. Metaphor
    A figure of speech in which an imaginative comparision is made between two dissimilar things without the use of the word like or as.
  5. Simile
    A direct comparison of two unlike thing WITH the use of the worlds like or as.
  6. Symbol
    A story element that represents a broader idea while maintaining its literal meaning.
  7. Allegory
    A type of story in which characters and events correspond to concepts. An allegory uses symbol to reveal basic truths about human existance.
