chapter 3 cells

  1. interphase
    • the cell continues to carry out all its normal functions/activities and rests from dividing.
    • divided into 3 phases g1,s,g2
  2. subphase s
chromatin is reproduced only during this phase
  3. during G1
the cell is metabolically active (making proteins and growing) but its time frame for this phase varies.
  4. during the S phase
dna replicate itself, making sure the two new cells will be identical to the original
  5. during g2
    • short phase. enzymes and other proteins needed for division are made and moved to their proper sites
    • at the end of the phase, centriole replication is done. also starts
  6. dna replication
it occurs simultaneously on several chromatin threads and continues till all the DNA is copied.
