    • 1. Alpha: vasoconstriction- improves coronary blood flow and supports blood pressure in anaphylactic shock
    • 2. Beta 1: a) chrontropic effects b) lowers defibrillation threshold c) inotropic effects: increase myocardial contractility
    • 3. Beta 2: bronchodilation
  3. Epinephrine 1:10000 Indications
    • 1. Cardiac Arrest: VF, VT (pulseless), asystole, and PEA (EMD)
    • 2. Anaphylactic Shock
  4. Epinephrine 1:10000 Contraindications
    None when indications are present
  5. Epinephrine 1:10000 Precautions
    • 1. protect medication from light
    • 2. can be deactivated by alkaline solutions
    • 3. when given to patients taking Beta blockers can cause severe hypertension and reflex bradycardia
  6. Epinephrine 1:10000 Side Effects
    • 1. Tachyarrhythmias
    • 2. Palpitations
    • 3. Hypertension
  7. Epinephrine 1:10000 Dosage
    Cardiac Arrest: .5-1mg every 3-5 minutes
  8. Epinephrine 1:10000 Route
    IV, ET (doubled dose)
  9. Epinephrine 1:10000 How Supplied
    Prefilled syringe: 1mg in 10ml
  10. Epinephrine 1:10000 Pediatric Dosage
    • .01 mg / kg every 5 minutes IV/IO
    • No ET Admin for Pediatrics
