    What are the several methods of immunosuppression used?
    The pathogen inhibits or suppresses either specific or non-specific immune responses.

    • Impair the function of lymphoid and myeloid cells-
    •         measles virus, hepatitis B virus and                   influenza virus (hiv 1 and hiv 2)
    • Destroy leukocytes
    • Interfere with cytokines and interferons
    • Target antigen presentation (removal of mhc by adenovirus)

    What are examples of phagocytes?
    Phagocyte migration, phagocytosis, and antigen presentation.

     Macrophages, Neutrophils, and Dendritic cells.

    • Kill phagocytes
    • Avoid being killed by phagocytes
    • Persist within phagocytes
  4. What happens in the evasion of phagocyte function of kiling phagocytes?

    How do leukocidins of then work?

    What organisms use killing phagocytes (leukocidins)?
    Production of leucocidins: proteins that are toxic to white blood cells/ leukocytes.

    They work at a distance to kill the phagocyte before it comes near to the pathogen.

    Staphylococcus, streptococcus, and pseudomonas.
