The pathogen inhibits or suppresses either specific or non-specific immune responses.
- Impair the function of lymphoid and myeloid cells-
- measles virus, hepatitis B virus and influenza virus (hiv 1 and hiv 2)
- Destroy leukocytes
- Interfere with cytokines and interferons
- Target antigen presentation (removal of mhc by adenovirus)

Macrophages, Neutrophils, and Dendritic cells.

What organisms use killing phagocytes (leukocidins)?

Production of leucocidins: proteins that are toxic to white blood cells/ leukocytes.

They work at a distance to kill the phagocyte before it comes near to the pathogen.

Staphylococcus, streptococcus, and pseudomonas.
