GI(Digestive)Tract consists of: Oral cavity, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine and anus

Accessory Digestive Organs aid in the breakdown of foodstuffs:Teeth, tongue, gallbladder, salivary glands, liver, and pancreas

A muscular tube that winds through the body and is responsible for the digestion and absorption of food

The Digestive Tract is composed of four tunics:

Has a muscular layer called the Muscalaris Mucosa

Has blood vessels, nerves and small glands

Muscular layer and controls movement of food in the digestive tract

Forms the outermost layer of the digestive tract

Three Major Types of Enteric Neurons:

Neuron that detects stretch of the digestive tract wall

Control smooth muscle contraction in the digestive tract

Connects the enteric sensory and motor neurons

A serious membrane that lines the abdominopelvic cavity and organs

The connective tissue sheet that consists of two serous membranes with a thin connective tissue layer sandwhiched betwn the membranes which hold many organs in place in the abdominopelvic cavity

The mesentery that extends from the greater curvature of the stomach

The mesentary that extends from the liver to the lesser curvature of the stomach

Two regions the mouth is divided into:

Space between the lips or cheeks and the alveolar processes, which contain the teeth

Lies Medial to the alveolar processes

Formed by the orbicularis oris

Forms the lateral walls of the oral cavity

Mouth is bounded by:

Forms the roof of the mouth. Consists of hard and soft areas

Assists the tongue in chewing

Mobile fold formed mostly of skeletal muscle

Projecting from the soft palate

Muscular structure on the floor of the mouth and fills the oral cavity when the mouth is closed
