Mechanism of Action
Potentiates effects of analgesics; calming effect without impairing mental alertness.

Indications
To potentiate the effects of analgesics; to control nausea and vomiting, anxiety reactions, and motion sickness; preoperative and postoperative sedation.

Drug Interactions
Potentiates the effects of CNS depressants such as narcotics, barbiturates, and alcohol.

How supplied
25 mg/mL or 50 mg/mL in 1-mL vials.

Dosage and Administration
- Adult: 25-100 mg IM.
- Pediatric: 0.5 -1.0 mg/kg/dose IM.

Duration of Action
- Onset: IM: 15-30 minutes.
- Peak Effect: 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.
- Duration: 4-6 hours.

Special considerations
Should be given by IM injection only. Localized burning at injection site is common complaint.
