  1. The stamp act and its repercussions
    The colonist resistedBrittan’s sugar act but imposed a new harsher act called the stamp act whichrequired the colonist to purchase special stamps for all legal documents andstamped paper for everything from newspaper to playing cards. Later we issuedstories urging protest in newspapers and called for the declaration of therights and grievances of the colonies. Crowds also attacked stamp collectorsand government officials. Rockingham shepherded 2 key pieces of legislationthrough parliament to deal with the crisis and protest of the colonist ,thedeclatory act- which affirmed parliaments authority to “ make laws andstatutes” binding the colonies and the second repealed the stamp act.
  2. The Boston Massacreand its repercussions
    a group of colonisttaunted a group of soldiers and hit them with snow balls resulting in some ofthe soldiers open firing on them killing five civilians. Word got out to othercolonies that the British open fired and massacred them. This act stiffened thecolonist resistance and caused the town shed acts to be lifted.
  3. Boston Tea Party
    A group of Bostonians dressed as Indians and boarded an English tea ship at night and tosses 90000 pounds of tea into the harbor. This cause the intolerable acts to be set into play towards the colonist.
  4. Lexington and Concord
    British soldiers headed to Massachusetts to disarm the militia because they posed a treat. They then dispatched troops to Concord to seize the supplies for the weapons. Paul revere warned everyone that the British were coming. The colonist set up sixty to seventy militiamen for when the British arrived to Lexington. There the first shot was fired by the colonist; it is unclear who shot it. This was the first fight against the British the colonist fought. When the soldiers arrived at concord there was a better more organized militia to meet them. The British were forced to retreat.
  5. The olive BranchPetition and its Repercussions
    This was a petitionthat begged King George III to rid of the cruel policies The King said no andband all trade with the thirteen colonies resulting in the colonies wanting torevolt and become its own country.
  6. The 2 major stipulationsof the Northwest Ordinance of 1787
    1) 36 square miles sold for a sum of no less than a dollar had to be paid in hard currency 2)  rejected slavery in new states carved out of the Northwest territories
  7. Shays Rebellion
    As the number of farm foreclosures increased, Protestors went to the court house and rioted and in result the courts were shut down. The government sent the militia after the protestors but instead of making the rioters stop they joined them and had a vote of whether they wanted the courts to open or stay closed they chose to keep the courts closed.
  8. The federalist andanti-federalists views on the Bill of Rights
    anti federalist felt that the Bill of rights were necessary because even if just one person is in power they are always tempted to increase their power. The federalist felt just the opposite they believed that the Bill of Rights was a major flaw in the constitution because the new government was one power only and all power not given to them goes to us the people

    They finally settled the dispute on the presidency’s term to be four years and they can be reelected as many times as they wish to do so, second, they decided to go through with having an electoral college
  10. The whiskey Rebellion
    erupted when farmers from Pennsylvania and Kentucky took up arms to protest the whiskey tax. The protesters marched to the home of the government tax collector hoping to intimidate him. Two protestors were killed and the house was burnt to the ground. Two weeks late

    Hamilton believes that we should have a commercial republic loose interpretation of the constitution a standing army and pro- British Jefferson belied that we should have a farming republic strict interpretation of the constitution a militia and we should be pro French

    Jefferson believed in a strict constitution which means if the constitution doesn’t say you can then you can’t in the constitution it doesn’t specify whether we are able to buy the Louisiana territory from the French by Jefferson goes ahead and buys it anyway even though it was against his belief of how we should interpret the constitutions

    This is where all theslaves revolted and killed all the white people. This event scared theAmericans causing us to keep a shorter leash on our slaves.
  17. Define impressment
    capturing theAmerican ships and forcing them to join the British navy
  18. Gabriel’s Rebellion
    A slave insurrection inRichmond, drew together free blacks and slaves in a plot to liberate the Richmondslaves. The bold plan was to seize the state arsenal and distribute the arms tothe slaves. Gabriel’s planned to march his people under a banner emblazoned withthe words death or liberty. The militia crushed the rebellion and sent twentysix to trial where they were sentenced to death.
  19. XYZ affair
    This event was whenwe sent three ministers to France to negotiate a settlement about the American.The French officials were known as X Y and Z. The officials demanded a bribe of250000 dollars for themselves and a generous loan of 12 million dollars toFrance with an official apology from our president for the unflattering remarkshe had made about the French government. This event almost made us declare waron France

    was an Americaninventor best known for inventing the cotton gin. This was one of the keyinventions of the Industrial Revolution and shaped the economy of theAntebellum South. Whitney's invention made upland short cotton into aprofitable crop, which strengthened the economic foundation of slavery in theUnited State.
  21. The Monroe Doctrine
    Reiterated the policyoutlined in Washington’s farewell address that America can’t meddle in Europeanaffairs and they can’t do the same to us
  22. The Battle of New Orleans
    A battle that took place after the war had ended. Word of the war coming to an end had not reached the generals so we continued to fight the colonist won.
