  4. Diltiazem (Cardizem) Contraindications
    • 1. Hypotension or cardiogenic shock
    • 2. VT or wide-complex tachycardia
    • 3. Wolf-Parkinson's White Syndrome
  5. Diltiazem (Cardizem) Precautions
    • 1. Can cause systemic hypotension
    • 2. Calcium chloride should be available to prevent hypotensive effects
    • 3. should be refrigerated
    • 4. avoid giving to patients receiving beta-blockers (increased risk of CHF Bradycardia and Asystole

    • 1. Nausea and vomitting
    • 2. Dizziness and headache
    • 3. Bradycardia, heart blocks, asystole
    • 4. hypotension
  7. Diltiazem (Cardizem) Dosage
    20mg IV bolus (.25mg per kg) over 2 minutes
  8. Diltiazem (Cardizem) Route
    IV: Slow push and piggyback
  9. Diltiazem (Cardizem) How supplied
    vials: 25mg in 5mL OR 50mg in 10mL
  10. Diltiazem (Cardizem) Pediatric Dosage
