    • 1) Local venous irritiation

    • 3) Avoid mxing with other medications due to precipitation
    • 4) Decreased LOC
  8. Diazepam - Side effects:
    • 1) Drowsiness
    • 2) Hypotension
    • 3) Respiratory depression, apnea
  9. Diazepam - Adult dosage:
    • 1) Status epilepticus: 5 - 10 mg IV
    • 2) Acute anxiety and cocaine overdose: 2 - 5 mg IV
    • 3) Premedication for cardioversion: 5 - 15 mg IV
  10. Diazepam - Route:
    IV no faster than 1 mL / min, IM, rectal, or ET
  11. Diazepam - How supplied:
    Ampule and prefilled syringe: 10 mg / 2 mL
  12. Diazepam - Pediatric dosage:
    Status epilepticus: 0.2 - 0.5 mg / kg / dose
