    Sympathomimetic (Beta 2 selective)
  4. Alupent - Actions/pharmacodynamics:
    • 1) Bronchodilation
    • 2) Increases heart rate
  5. Alupent - Indications:
    • 1) Asthma
    • 2) Bronchospasm with COPD
  6. Alupent - Contraindications:
    • 1) Known allergy
    • 2) Patients with cardiac dysrhythmias or significant tachycardias
  7. Alupent - Precautions:
    Vitals and EKG should be monitored
  8. Alupent - Side effects:
    Palpitations, anxiety, headache, dizziness, and sweating
  9. Alupent - Adult dosage:
    Bullet dose. Can be repeated as needed.
  10. Alupent - Route:
    Inhalation, ET
  11. Alupent - How supplied:
    • Metered dose inhaler: 2-3 inhalations. Can be repeated in 3-4 hours if required.
    • Nebulizer: 0.2-0.3 mL of Alupent in 2.5 mL normal saline over 5 minutes.
  12. Alupent - Pediatric dosage:
    0.05 - 0.3 mL in 4 mL normal saline
