Propanolol

  2. Pharmacology and Actions
    Propranolol is a nonselective beta-blocker affecting both bronchial and cardiac sites. It reduces heart rate, myocardial irrtability, contraction force, cardiac output, and blood pressure.
  3. Indications
    Ventricular fibrillation and pulseless ventricular tachycardia refractory to lidocaine and breylium and selected SVTs.
  4. Contraindications
    • 2nd and 3rd degree heart blocks
    • CHF
    • Cardiogenic Shock
    • Asthma
    • COPD
  5. Precautions and Side Effects
    • Confusion
    • Respiratory Distress
    • AV Heart Blocks
    • Hypotension
    • Profound Bradycardia
  6. Dosage (Adult)
    1-3mg slow IVP (over 2-5mins) not to exceed 1mg/min

    (may repeat in 2 mins) Max dose of 0.1mg/kg
