Levels of Organization

  1. Chemical Level
    Atoms, the smallest stable units of matter, combine to form molecules with complex shapes.
  2. Cellular Level
    Different molecules can interact to form larger structures.
  3. Tissue Level
    A tissue is composed of simular cells working together to perform a specific function.
  4. Organ Level
    An organ consists of 2 or more different tissues working together to perform specific functions
  5. Organ System Level
    Organs interact in organ systems (like the heart pushing blood into the blood vessels...all part of the cariovascular system)
  6. Organism Level
    All of the organ systems of the body work together to maintain life and health.
