    Beta cells in the pancreas form a tumor.It causes an excess production of insulin which results in dangerously low blood glucose levels.

    between 2 to 4 and up.
  8. How is an insulinoma treated?
    • Surgery: Treatment of choice if caught early. Partial pancreatectomy provides increased survival  and no additional medication is needed.
    • Drug therapy: temporary remedy and is rarely effective. Prednisone is the drug of choice. Also they must be on a high protein diet.

    Adult: fed 2 to 3 times a week, can be offered same as juvenile  as well as plant material (dandelions, clover, rose petals, hibiscus, carnations and nasturium) fresh fruits 

    They can also be offered expanded guinea pig or rabbit food

    Commercial diets are available. High protein diets can cause kidney failure and death.
