    thomas Jefferson bought it. Doubled the size of U.S. paid $15 for it
  7. How did we acquire the Mexican Cession?
    We received it after the Mexican War but paid a little bit of money to avoid more anger from Mexico
  8. How did we acquire the Texas Annexation?
    Texas seceded from Mexico and then asked to join the US, which we took in 1845
  9. What are 2 bodies of water that the Erie Canal Connects?
    Hudson River and Lake Erie (Great Lakes), but the Hudson River lead to the Atlantic Ocean so it was a way to bring things in and out easily

    It increased trade and population. Helped bring things East to West
  12. What was the Indian Removal Act
    It was a law that removed naitives from the US into reservations
  13. What are reservations?
    Poor land in Oklahoma for Native Americans to live in.
  14. What was the Trail of Tears?
    The forced removal of the Cherokee from Georgia where people died from starvation and weather. About 2,00 died.

    • Alien- Had to wait 15 years to become a citizen (s cared he wouldn't get support from immigrants)
    • Sedition- You can't criticize the government

    3 French people wanted a bribe to stop impressments. US wouldn't pay it. Foreign Policy=No bribes!

    a territory of land that Jefferson bought from France for $15,000,000. It doubled the size of the U.S. and encouraged the belief of Manifest Destiny

    She helped Lewis and Clark explore the Louisiana Territory
