  1. ethics
    moral principles and values that an individual uses to decide whether an action is appropriate
  2. teleological ethics
    greek word telos, focuses on the consequences or end result of an action
  3. deontological ethics
    greek word deos, focuses on the moral obligations and responsibilities of individuals to do the right thing
  4. individualism
    ethical egoism
    do unto others as you would have them do unto you.  every person should act in a way that best promotes him or herself as long as the net result generates in a positive outcome.
  5. utilitarianism
    seeks to provide the greatest good for the greatest number of people
  6. Sidgwick's dualism
    must include a universalist component that considers the interest of others as well as an individualist component that takes into account an individual's own self-interest.
  7. kant's ethics
    decisions should be made based on whether an action is right or wrong in and of itself
  8. moral rights approach
    individuals have fundamental rights and liberties that can't be taken away.
  9. justice approach
    all members of society should be treated fairly
  10. distributive justice
    treatment of individuals should not be based on arbitrary characteristics
  11. procedural justice
    all rules should be distributed equally to all members of society
  12. moral philosophy
    principles, rules and values that individuals use in deciding what is right and wrong
  13. Employee assistance program
    formal program designed to help employees deal with personal problems and challenges
  14. employee awareness training
    educates new employees about what is acceptable and unacceptable behavior within the organization
  15. modeling
    refers to the behavior, or example, of an individual
  16. labeling
    what an individual says or communicates to others
  17. code of ethics
    written document that communicates to employees what is acceptable and unacceptable behavior
  18. open door policy
    transparent and open communication policy where employees have access to management
