  3. The diagram shows a current balance that can be made in a school for measuring small currents . To Measure a current , the position of the weight is adjusted until the arm is horizontal and the position of the weight shows the size of the current

    Why does the arm moves when current fllows
    explain why the position of the weight used to keep the arm horizontal needs to be changed if the current is changed
    • The coil becomes aN Electromagnet So attracts the magnet 
    • if the current is increased the strength of the electromagnet Will be increased so their will be an increased downwards force so the weight may need to be moved away (since moments are dependant on force and distance) so the anticlockwise moments balance with the clockwise moments so the doesn't moves
