  14. How does 5-FU work
    • -metabolized via anabolic pathway--> blocks methylation rxn of dUMP to dTMP
    • -interferes w/synthesis of DNA, inhibits formation of RNA
    • -creates a thymidylate deficiency
  15. What is the counseling for 5-FU?
    • avoid SUN - blisters
    • avoid eyes - blindness
    • wash hands
  16. How does cytoxan work?
    • the activated form phosphoramide mustard, alkylates binds w/intracellular molecular structures
    • Cross-links DNA and RNA strands
  17. Dosage for for 5-FU
    • Carac Cream 0.5% -QD X 3 days
    • Fluroplex 1% Cream BID X 14 days
    • Efudex 5 % Cream BID X 14 days
