What are the functions of a nephron?
- 1. Filtration
- 2. Reabsorption
- 3. Secretion
-
Where does filtration occur and what is it?
- Occurs between the glomerulus and Bowman's Capsule.
- As a result of osmotic and hydrostatic pressures, the liquid portion of the blood minus the large proteins (glomerular filtrate) leaves the glomerulus and collects in the cup-life Bowman's Capsule.
-
Where does reabsorption occur and what is it?
- Occurs in the PCT, LH, DCT, and CD.
- It is the movement of valuable substances from the PCT, LH, DCT, & CD to the peritubular capillary bed.
-
What happens with dehydration?
The brain releases a large amount of vasopressin
