Pralidoxime

    Cholinesterase Reactivator , (2 PAM)
  2. Pharmacology and Actions
    Reactivates the cholinesterase inhibited by phosphate esters by displacing the enzyme from its receptor sites. This restores the normal functions of the neuromuscular transmission.
  3. Indications
    An antidote and treatment for organophosphate poisoning
  4. Contraindications
    • Severe Cardiac Disease
    • Peptic Ulcer
    • Asthma
    • MI
    • Hypersensitivity to Procainamide / Procaine
  5. Precautions and Side Effects
    • Tachycardia
    • Hypertension
    • Dizziness
  6. Dosage (Adult)
    1-2 grams in 250-500ml of NS infused over 15-30 mins ; if no IV access is available 1-2 grams IM / SC
