    • Sickle cell anemia
    • valine substituted for glutamic acid at position 6
  3. What is Sickle Cell crisis?
    • Sudden weakness
    • rapid pluse
    • faintness
    • pallor of lips and mucous membrane
    • enlarged spleen
  4. Laboratory Findings for Sickle Cell
    • low Hbg, Hct, RBC
    • RBC indices; normochromic, normocytic
    • increased reticulocyte
    • bone marrow hyperplasia
  5. Sickle Cell trait?
    usually present with hemolytic anemia except crisis
  6. Hgb C
    • lysine replace glutamic acid
    • forms crystals
