    Mechanism of Action
    • Slows conduction through the AV node by relaxing smooth muscle.
    • Inhibits reentry during PSVT (paroxysmol supraventricular response)
    • Decreases myocardial oxygen demand.

    Indications
    • Narrow-complex tachycardias including:
    • Stable narrow-complex tachycardias if rhythm remains uncontrolled or unconverted by Adenosine or vagal maneuvers; or if SVT is recurrent.
    • To control ventricular rate with A-Fib or A-Flutter.

    • Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome
    • Pt on IV beta blockers

  7. Verapamil

    Adult Dose
    2.5 - 5 mg IV or IO over 2 minutes.

    Repeat dose of 5 - 10 mg IV or IO over 2 minutes; in 15 - 30 minutes if needed.

    0 - 1 year: 0.1 - 0.2 mg/kg (max 2.0 mg) administered slowly.

    1 - 15 years: 0.1 - 0.3 mg/kg (max 5.0 mg) administered slowly.
