    competent- some one we see as competent to offer it (capable of doing it)

    person- the appraisial  must be perceived highly personal. the more the person seems to know more about us and adapts what is being said to fit us, the more we are expecting judgement from this person.
  3. reasonable in light of self concept
    reasonable in light self concept- reasonable in light of what we believe  about ourselves  if an appraisal is similar to our selves we might believe it
  4. consistent and numerous 
    consistent and numerous- more persuasive than those that contradict usual appraisals  or those that occur only once.
