  1. isotonic reversals - purpose?
    • to facilitate coordinated recip movements
    • improve smooth reversal of mvmnt directions
    • facil contraction of ag/antagonist pairs
    • prevent or relieve fatigue
    • increase endurance
    • increase AROM
  2. purpose of quick-stretch
    • initiate movement
    • mid range - it can encourage mvmnt vs fatigue
    • improve pt's awareness of mvmnt
    • redirect motion
    • increase AROM
    • increase endurance

can be used with any other technique
  3. special techniques - combos of isotonics, def?
    • use of eccentric, concentric, & maintained isotonic contractions in 1 direction of a given diagonal
    • ... you alternate btwn them smoothly, cuing the pt w yr hands and voice
  4. purpose of combos of isotonics
    • mimic ADLs (we raise, hold, bring things down...)
    • train pt to transition btwn these 3 types of contractions
    • PT resists throughout, fluidly
  5. in combos of isotonics, when does the PT control speed?
    concentric & maintained isotonic
  6. in combos of isotonics, when does the pt control speed?
    eccentric
