    • hemolymph: open
    • blood: closed
  2. Tissue
    both have connective
  3. Interstitial fluid
    • Indistinct from interstitial fluid: open
    • is distinct since blood never exits: closed
  4. Cells
    both have

    • both carry and transport respiratory gases, but 
    • open: not in cells
    • closed: transports in RBCs
  6. Primary Respiratory Pigment
    • open: hemocyanin-O2 transport
    • closed: hemoglobin, the only one in vertebrates
  7. Explain hemocyanin
    • -          unlike hemoglobin, hemocyanin is not in cells= its free in the fluid of the hemolymph
    • uses copper instead of iron; similar structure
