Functional Class
Class IV antidysrhythmic (Calcium channel blocker)
Mechanism of Action
Inhibits calcium ion influx through slow channels into the myocardial cells and arterial smooth muscle
Causes intracellular calcium to remain at sub-threshhold levels
Reduces peripheral vascular resistance by inhibiting the arterial smooth muscle
Inhibits coronary artery spasm
Slows SA and AV node conduction without effecting atrial action potential
Indications
SVT refractory to adenosine
Rapid A-Fib/A-Flutter
Contraindications

Sick sinus syndrome
2nd and 3rd degree AV block
Hypotension
WPW
