    • Prolongs duration of action ptential and refractory period
    • Relaxes smooth muscle
    • Reduces peripheral vascular resistance
    • Increases coronary blood flow
  3. Amiodarone Indications
    • Life threatening ventricular and supraventricular dysrhythmias
    • Afib
  4. Amiodarone Contraindications
    • Cardiogenic shock
    • Severe sinus bradycardia
    • Advanced heart block
  5. Amiodarone Precautions
    Pregnancy
  6. Amiodarone Dose/Route
    150-300mg Iv over 10 min, then 1 mg/min over next 6hrs.

    Antidysrhythmic
  8. Bretylium Description
    Suppresses ventricular tachydysrhythmias including Vfib with reentry mechanisms
  9. Bretylium Indications
    Vfib & Vtach refractory to lidocaine
  10. Bretylium Contraindications
    None
  11. Bretylium Precautions
    • Digitalised Pts
    • Digitalis induced dysrhythmias
