For a Ho, a test procedure, and a data set, the p-value is the smallest value you could choose for the type-I error rate and still reject the Ho.

The probability that you will accept the Ha, given that the Ha is true.

The degree to which the type-I error rate is insensitive to violations of the test's assumptions.
