Advanced diabetes insulin dependent(beta cells no longer produce insulin)
Type 1 diabetes
hypoglycemia
sulfonimide allergy(still given, be cautious)
*not contraindicated in renal failure*

hypoglycemia
weight gain
rash
Nausea
epigastric fullness
heartburn
Route of Glipizide(Glucotrol)
PO 5-10 mg daily(max 20mg)
MOA of Glipizide(Glucotrol)
bind to beta cell receptors
stimulate insulin release
decrease glucagon secreations
Works best given
