  1. Who is directly responsible for, and is the final authority as to, the operation of an aircraft?
    Pilot in Command.
  2. In an in-flight emergency requiring immediate action.
    What is the PIC allowed to do?
    Deviate from any rule to the extent required to meet that emergency.
  3. If a pilot in command who deviates from a rule to meet an emergency.
    What is required of him/her?
    If requested by the Administrator, send a written report of that deviation to the Administrator.
  4. While operating an aircraft under IFR. Who is responsible to determine if the use of a portable electronic device is allowed.While operating an aircraft under IFR?
    Pilot in Command.
  5. What portable electronic devices are allowed to be used on an aircraft being operated under IFR?
    • Portable voice recorders;
    • Hearing aids;
    • Heart pacemakers;
    • Electric shavers; or
    • Any other portable electronic device that the operator of the aircraft has determined will not cause interference with the navigation or communication system of the aircraft on which it is to be used.
  6. What Preflight action is required for an IFR flight or a flight not in the vinicity of an airport?
    • Weather reports and forecasts,
    • Fuel requirements,
    • Alternatives available if the planned flight cannot be completed,
    • and any known traffic delays of which the pilot in command has been advised by ATC;
