Resistance Training

  1. What three factors are involved in muscle growth?
    • 1) Myofibril Thickening
    • 2) Capillary Growth
    • 3) Glycogen Accomodation
  2. What is Myofibril Thickening?
Breaking down of muscle fibres (the split) and rebuilding / repair occurs. Eating correctly and rest will encourage growth.
  3. What is Capillaty Growth?
When exercising with weights blood is flushed into the muscles and capillary growth occurs to provide fuel to the muscle.
  4. What is Glycogen Accomodation?
The amount of glycogen held in the muscle cells determine the size of the muscle.
