Digoxin

  2. Pharmacology and Actions
    Digoxin is a rapid acting cardiac glycoside used in the treatment of CHF and rapid atrial dysrhythmias. It increases the force and velocity of myocardial contraction and cardiac output. It also decreases conduction through the AV node, thus decreasing heart rate.
  3. Indications
    Increase cardiac output in CHF and to stabilize supraventricular tachydysrhythmias
  4. Contraindications
    • - V-Fib
    • - V-TACH except due to CHF
  5. Precautions and Side Effects
    • - Hypotension
    • - AV Block
    • - Drowsiness
  6. Dosage (Adult)
    0.25 to 0.5mg slowly IV
  7. Dosage (Pedi)
    10 to 50mcg/kg IV
