Diphenhydramine

  2. Pharmacology and Actions
    Diphenhydramine blocks histamine release, thereby reducing bronchoconstriction, vasodialation and edema. It suppresses central cholinergic activity and prolongs the action of dopamine by inhibiting its reuptake and storage.

    Anaphlylaxis, allergic reactions and dystonic reactions
  4. Contraindications
    Asthma and other lower respiratory diseases
  5. Precautions and Side Effects
    • - Drowsiness
    • - Tachycardia
    • - Dizziness
    • - Hypertension / Hypotension
  6. Dosage ( Adult)
    25 to 50mg IV/IM
  7. Dosage (Pedi)
    6 - 12 year olds- 12.5 to 25mg IV/IM

    under 6 years old- 2 to 5mg/kg IV/IM, not to exceed 25mg
