    a positivley or negativley charged atom or molecule
  3. what is a chemical bond?
    a chemical link between two atoms, which holds the atoms together
  4. what is an ionic bond?
    a chemaical bond that forms between oppositely charged ions
  5. what is an ionic compound?
    a compound made of two oppositely charged ions
  6. what is a molecular compound?
    a compund formed when atoms of two or more different elements share electrons
  7. what is a covalent bond?
    a chemical bond in which  one or more pairs of electrons are shared by two atoms 
  8. what is a molecule?
    the smallest descrete particle of a pure substance, which has one or more pairs of electrons.
