    it has brunners glands towards the bottom that secrete extra mucus

    the duodenum is the last portion of the small intestine before the large intestine

    The lighter areas are the islets of langerhorns and they have an endocrine function of secreting the hormones insulin and glucagon

    The darker areas are acini and they are the working cells of the digestive system.  They secrete enzymes

    It has portal triads that empty into a central vein through sinusoids

    kupffer cells are macrophages found in the sinusoids
