Nursing Considerations
- Drug of choice to treat anaphylactic reaction
- Must be given parenterally to treat anaphylaxis
- should not be used in pts with dysrthymias or hypertesion

Dopamine mechanism
- Cause Vascular relaxation
- Stimulate boh alpha-1 & alpha-2 receptor
- Mediate smooth muscle constriction

Dopamine Side Effects
- Fast or irregular heart beat
- Headache
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Chest Pain
- Dizziness
- Pain, Redness, or swelling @ injection sites
- Severe Allergic Reactions
- (Rash; hive, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue)

Dopamine
Nursing Consideration
- Must be given via CVC, normal Cannula okay
- Strict observation of site to make ensure extravasation doesn't occur
- (will cause necrosis, ischaemia, and sloughing of the area)
- Dopamine is stable for 24 hours, flask therefore should be change every 24/24
- Pulmonary hypertension maybe exacerbate due to Dopamine induced pulmonary vasoconstriction
- Dopamine mus be weened and not ceased suddenly
