- Condition 4. Safety on, Magazine removed, chamber empty, bolt foward, ejection port cover closed

Three weapons carries
- Tactical Carry - no immediate threat is present
- Alert Carry (alert to the dirt) - enemy contact is likely
- Ready Carry - contact with the enemy is imminent
