  1. Three specialized cells suspended in liquid blood
    • RBC (erythrocytes)
    • WBC (leukocytes)
    • Platelets (thrombocytes)
  2. Erythrocytes
    • Bioconcave discs
    • produced in red bone marrow
  3. Leukocytes
    Two types: granulocytes and agranulocytes
  4. Types of grandulocytes
    Neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils
  5. Types of agranulocytes
    lymphocytes and monocytes
  6. Lymphocytes
    • found mostly in lymph tissue
    • important in immune responce
  7. Monocytes
    • Differentiate into macrophages
    • Help fight infections
