  1. What is a federal system?
    is both a political and philosophical concept that describes how power is given to governments.
  2. What does a constitution do?
    provides the basic law of a body politic. The constitution defines the government, describes how it is organized.
  3. What is a democracy?
    the political orientation of those who favor government by the people or by their elected representatives.
  4. What is representative democracy?
    a type of democracy in which the citizens delegate authority to elected representatives.
  5. What are the two major political parties in the United States?
    The Republicans and Democrats.
  6. What is the main emphasis of capitalism?
    conomic system in which investment in&ownership of the means of production
  7. What type of economy is found in most Communist countries?
    Planned economy is an economic system in which the state directs the economy.
  8. Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?
    In 1776 Thomas Jefferson was chosen by the committee to draft the Declaration of Independence.
  9. When did the Articles of Confederation went into effect?
    November 15, 1777.
  10. What is an innerstate commerce?
    the exchange or buying and selling of commodities on a large scale involving transportation from place to place.
  11. What were the issues that the Founders of the constitution compromised on that left a terrible burden?
    November 15, 1777.
  12. What did the Antifederalists want before they accepted the Constitution?
    freedom of movement between the states, amongst other declarations.
  13. What did the Antifederalists fear that from a result of a strong national government?
    They feared that it would end up like the Greek & Roman Empires. 
  14. Why did the Founders allow for constitutional amendments?
    to ensure that new amendments could be made to suit the people of that age.
  15. How can a proposed amendment can be ratifited?
    The Constitution spells out four paths for an amendment, all of which involve Congress and State Legislatures.
  16. What is the Bill of Rights?
    the 1st 10 amendments to the US Constitution.
  17. What are the qualifications for election to the House of Representatives?
    You must be at least 25 years of age, a citizen of the United States for at least seven years prior to election, a resident etc.
  18. What are the qualifications for election to the Senate?
    Senate qualifications are you must be 30 years old or up, been a citizen for 9 years, a resident of the state you're representing.
  19. What are constituents?
    a citizen who is represented in a government by officials for whom he or she votes
  20. What is a subpoena?
    in law, an order to a witness to appear before a court; To testify under penalty.
  21. What is immunity?
    the state of not being susceptible;
  22. What is an impoundment?
    placing private property in the custody of an officer of the law.
  23. What are public bills?
    a congressional or parliamentary bill involving the general interests of the people at large or of the whole community.
  24. What is the purpose of lobbyists?
    a person who tries to influence legislation on behalf of a specialinterest;
