Mediastinum
the part of the thoracic cavity between the lungs that contains the heart and aorta and esophagus and trachea and thymus glands, right and left bronchi

Thoracic cavity
in the vertebrate body enclosed by the ribs between the diaphragm and the neck- contains the heart and lungs. (contains the lungs, heart, esophagus, trachea, & thymus gland (inside of the ventral cavity). The right pleural, left pleural and mediastinum are found in the thoracic cavity.

Abdominal cavity
contains stomach, liver, spleen, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys, ureters and most of the small and large intestines (inside of the ventral cavity).

Pelvic cavity
contains terminal portions of large intestines, urinary bladder, and internal reproductive organs (inside of the ventral cavity), colon and rectum.

Cranial cavity
lies in the skull and houses the brain

the spinal column/cord

Upper portion of the abdominal cavity, and a lower portion of the pelvic cavity
