- Herpes simplex, herpes zoster, herpes simplex encephalitis and CMV
- Does not cure, improves pain and decreases healing time of blister formations

Valacyclovir ( Valtrex)
- Treatment of singles ( herpes zoster), HSV
- Converts to Acyclovir
- Greater pain control with shingles and increased healing time
- PO only
