Motility Test

  1. Why do we perform this type of motility test?
    To detect bacterial motility.
  2. What's the name of the media used in this test & what are its characteristics?
    MEDIA: Motality Test Medium - TTC salt is added.

    • CHARACTERISTICS: Differential char. - motility.
    • oxidized TTC is colorless & soluble
    • test state in not soluble & turns red.
  3. What device is used to inoculate the media & why?
    Use motility stab needle. So it can stab and go straight through to bottom.
  4. What do positive & negative results look like?
    POSTIVE: Red fuzzy radiating from stab line = motility

    NEGATIVE: Only red along stab line = no motility
