Why do we perform this type of motility test?
To detect bacterial motility.
What's the name of the media used in this test & what are its characteristics?
MEDIA: Motality Test Medium - TTC salt is added.
CHARACTERISTICS
: Differential char. - motility.
oxidized TTC is colorless & soluble
test state in not soluble & turns red.
What device is used to inoculate the media & why?
Use motility stab needle. So it can stab and go straight through to bottom.
What do positive & negative results look like?
POSTIVE: Red fuzzy radiating from stab line = motility
NEGATIVE: Only red along stab line = no motility
